Description
Monk Blessed Authentic 12mm Teak Wood Buddhist Monk Bead Necklace
Genuine Buddhist Monk Beads
Buddhist Monk Beads are traditionally used by Buddhist practitioners for meditation, prayer and the repetition of mantras. The beads provide a physical way to count repetitions while keeping attention focused on the practice. This 12mm version is deliberately larger than many modern Mala necklaces. The substantial beads are easy to feel between the fingers, making them particularly suitable for people who want Buddhist Monk Beads primarily for meditation rather than as a fashion accessory.
The simple teak wood design also reflects the understated nature of traditional Buddhist prayer beads. There are no unnecessary gemstones or decorative elements, just natural wood beads, a Guru Bead and a traditional tassel.

Individually Blessed Beads
Every Monk Mala Buddhist Monk Bead necklace is individually taken to a Buddhist Monk in Thailand for blessing. These are therefore blessed beads, rather than products simply described online as “Monk blessed.”
For people who value Buddhist practice, the blessing provides a meaningful connection between the beads and the living Buddhist tradition. We do not claim that a blessing gives the beads magical powers or guarantees a particular outcome. Instead, we regard the blessing as an important spiritual part of the Buddhist Monk Beads we provide. Each blessed Mala is supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
12mm Teak Wood Beads
The beads are made from natural teak wood. Teak is a durable hardwood traditionally valued throughout Asia, and its natural colour and grain give every set of Buddhist Monk Beads its own individual appearance.
The 12mm bead size gives this Mala a noticeably different feel from smaller 6mm or 8mm Mala beads. The larger beads are easier to handle individually and provide a clear tactile sensation when counting during meditation. Natural wood can vary in colour, grain and texture. These variations are part of the character of genuine natural wood and mean that no two Mala necklaces will look exactly the same.
108 Buddhist Monk Beads
This Mala contains 108 main beads, the traditional number commonly used in Buddhist and Hindu Mala practice. The beads can be moved one at a time while repeating a mantra, prayer or other chosen phrase.
The 108 beads are intended to provide a practical counting system during meditation. Rather than concentrating on keeping count mentally, the practitioner can use the beads to maintain a steady rhythm and keep attention on the practice.
Buddhist Monk Beads for Meditation
The large 12mm beads make this Mala particularly suitable for meditation. Hold the beads comfortably in one hand and move from one bead to the next after each repetition of your mantra, prayer or chosen phrase.
The Mala can be used for Japa meditation, mantra practice, prayer or quiet reflection. It can also be kept on a meditation altar or carried with you as a physical reminder of your practice.
Because these are larger Buddhist Monk Beads, they are especially useful for anyone who finds smaller Mala beads difficult to handle.
Buddhist Monk Beads to Wear
Although these are traditional meditation beads, they can also be worn around the neck. The natural teak wood and simple design make them suitable for everyday wear without the appearance of a conventional fashion necklace.
For many people, wearing Buddhist Monk Beads is a way of keeping a physical reminder of meditation, Buddhist practice or personal intentions close throughout the day.
Whether you use them for meditation, prayer or wear them as a Buddhist bead necklace, their purpose remains connected to mindfulness and spiritual practice.
Why These Are Different from Ordinary Mala Beads
Many Mala necklaces sold today are designed primarily as jewellery, often combining gemstones, crystals and decorative elements with modern spiritual interpretations. There is nothing inherently wrong with wearing a modern Mala, but it is different from a traditional-style Buddhist Monk Mala.
These Buddhist Monk Beads are intentionally simple. The focus is on the natural teak wood, the traditional 108-bead arrangement, practical use during meditation and the individual Buddhist Monk blessing.
This makes them particularly suitable for someone looking specifically for Buddhist Monk Beads, rather than a decorative Mala necklace inspired by Buddhist imagery.
From Thailand to You
Monk Mala is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and works with Buddhist Monks in the region. Our connection with the Buddhist community allows us to have individual Malas blessed rather than simply adding a “blessed” description to a product listing. The teak wood beads are prepared and assembled into the finished Mala, then each Mala sold as Monk Blessed is individually taken to a Buddhist Monk for blessing.
This traceability is an important part of what we offer. You know what the beads are made from, where the Mala is supplied from, how it is intended to be used and that the blessing takes place in Thailand.
A Traditional Mala with a Genuine Monk Blessing
These 12mm Teak Wood Buddhist Monk Beads combine a traditional natural material with a simple Buddhist design and an individual Monk blessing in Thailand. They can be used for meditation, mantra repetition, prayer or worn as a meaningful Buddhist bead necklace.
If you are looking for genuine Buddhist Monk Beads rather than a modern fashion Mala, the 12mm Teak Wood version offers a substantial, tactile and traditional option.
Embark on a transformative journey of serenity with the Buddhist Monk Bead Necklace. This exquisite necklace, featuring blessed beads, is a pathway to tranquility and inner peace. As you gently glide your fingers over the smooth beads, you’ll feel a sense of calm washing over you, allowing you to enter a meditative state effortlessly. The earthy essence of teak wood connects you with nature and encourages a deeper reflection on life’s profound mysteries.
Each Buddhist Monk Bead Necklace Meditation Mala includes a Certificate of Authenticity

This teak mala is beautiful and feels very special. They say the wood is reclaimed from temples and I really get that vibe from the beads sometimes when I’m meditating. I like that it is really a type of mala used by monks and not one of those costume jewelry looking things made out of shiny rocks no monk would ever use. Very good quality.

I ordered my Mala because I wanted something to help relax and control stress. I didn’t realize how much it would work. I carry it everywhere and whenever I feel, it’s there. I count the beads, breath and sometimes ask for help from God. I feel so much better and can’t imagine how I lived with out one. Thank you

High quality and heavier mala. Great for meditation. The extra touch of having all beads blessed by monks makes these unique.
Alexander Williams (verified owner) –
It took a while to get to me, but it’s great. The 12mm beads are easier for my fingers to manipulate than the 8mm beads on other mala’s I’ve purchased elsewhere. I don’t wear the mala, I just keep it in my altar and use it during meditation. The quality is fantastic though and you can tell it’s handmade and not mass produced by a machine.
If I’m ever in the market for another mala, I’ll buy from Monk Mala again, for sure.

I absolutely love this mala, feels so grounding when I wear it and hold it during my practice.

Teresa Herren (verified owner) –
I love my teak wood bead mala. It is beautiful and well made. The beads are much larger than the regular crystal mala’s you find here in America. It came quickly once it was shipped. I do not believe this should be worn like some do the crystal mala’s. However that is a personal opinion. I want to personally thank all the monks that made and helped get my mala blessed to me. May you be blessed as you have blessed me. I have already seen proof of its protective powers.
